an overwhelming silence

frustration is the only thing

disappointment has become the new normal
as I sit in anticipation of all the things
that most likely won't occur

typing this as a reflection
of what my emotions
would look like
if placed in front of a mirror

and barely recognized myself
as the smile that

use as a mask
has all but melted away
