“An understanding that I write my own life story. And I have a choice of whether to let others write that for me. Therapist: How did you do as Alice in that regard? Amelia: I allowed my parents to write my story. I allowed my husband to write my story towards the end. Therapist: What does he suggest you could have done differently? Amelia: He tells me that my fear of death and dying and disappointing others was the main thing that led me away from doing what was important to me. The main lesson is to remember to be true to myself, regardless of what anybody else says or does. And that in this life I was supposed to learn that, yes, I have a light within me to share, but that it's more important that I share it with myself first. And that was something I had a hard time doing.”
