“I was reminded of this two years later when we shot The Rubin Report with the legendary economist and author Dr. Thomas Sowell while on location at Stanford University in April 2018. Sowell is a conservative who just so happens to be black, as well as a mentor to Elder, so it felt like the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the lesson I’d learned—and reaffirm it once more.
