I sat through the first hour of the audiobook version of this book. So far, it's nothing more than detailed commentary about the supposed process Twain went through to create his autobiography. Is there *anything* in this book written by Twain, as in, any actual autobiography, not just scholarly crap?

It is unfortunate perhaps that he chose to let his readers know how he decided on a format; but take heart. Let that go. Suffice it to say he dictated his bio as it occurred to him. He decided to forgo chronology. Read and relish in the reality of this man, wonderful insights and revelations. His encounter with a female audience at Cooper Union is priceless. He did not like Teddy Roosevelt but counted President U.S. Grant as a friend, enough to tell him that his image copied in a bust by an artist was a sorry sight, lol. His journey across the Atlantic with fellow 'pilgrims' to see Europe is one I would have liked to have been on. Oh, my friend, read on, even if it takes a bit. Don't we all have plenty of time? No audios, please. Let your finger slip through the pages and read of his publishing woes, his family, his heartbreak. Do read it !(less)
