Do you plan to write more diverse characters in your future books? Not that I don't love your books (which I of course do), I would just love to see more diversity within your stories.

I plan to do my best in this endeavor. I am a very big proponent of #ownvoices. I really really feel like a person of different ethnicity/culture to my own can tell a story representing that ethnicity/culture much better than I can. Which is why I support as much as possible diverse authors. I want to see people of all races, sexes, identities writing stories. That said, I do think it's important to have diverse representation in my books and I will admit that I haven't done the best job of that. I've tried in the past. Charlie, in ON THE FENCE, is hispanic. Tic in THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US is black. I've had many side characters of different races. In my next book out, LUCKY IN LOVE, the love interest is Vietnamese. But yes, you are right, the majority of my characters are white. I'm a work in progress and I'm hoping to improve on my representation. Thanks so much for the question. :)

I loved FIB! So adorable & Hayden may be the best book boyfriend ever. And all my favorite things... Doctor Who, Firefly, In-n-Out, plus you mention San Luis!? I was born & raised in SLO & I love it so much I set my novel there! I'd love if you'd like to read it (it's on GoodReads too). No pressure, just one nerd-referencing Californian to another. :-) You can email me rather than answer publicly: siouxshi@gmail.com

I loved your series Pivot Point and Split Second! I told everyone that asked for a YA suggestions about it. Since I work at a library I get asked that question a lot! I see that your more recent writing have stepped away from fantasy. Do you plan on writing any more in that category?
