PG to 15, mostly based on difficulty of reading, and the murder of Sir Danvers Carew. As in my review, the tale is told to keep the reader in the dark for some time, so some reading maturity is needed.

Has he read any other RLS? Thinking of "Treasure Island" mostly and if so and he enjoyed then the language wouldn't be too much of a problem. The only thing would be the themes as there is a brutal murder (not fully described) but enough to make me think twice about recommending to under 13...
