Lynne Stringer
Lynne Stringer asked Regine Abel:

What's the best resource you've found when it comes to researching the historical context of your stories?

Regine Abel I won't lie, Google is a writer's best friend! I usually don't write historical novels, while I do enjoy reading them. In the case of Bluebeard, it didn't feel right to me moving it into a more modern setting. When trying to think what my Bluebeard would be like, I pictured the type of beards I thought looked cool and immediately, Vikings and Dwarves came to mind with the beaded braids. That determined the setting/era. From there, I Googled the snot out of everything Viking, watched Viking related movies and TV series to immerse myself in the culture.
