I have not read A Long Way to a Small Angry Planet, but it's now on my TBR list :)
I read (and reread) so many books, it's a little difficult to pick one. But if I go with the 'recently' part of your question then I would have to say Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. As a gamer, game developper, and sci-fi fan, this had my geek genes tingling in all the right places.
