Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Peter Swanson Well, it would have to be Nick and Nora Charles from Dashiell Hammett's The Thin Man. They are happily married, extremely witty, drink constantly, and solve crimes. So what's not to like. The thing is, though, as much as I like the book, what really brings this couple to life were the film versions with William Powell and Myrna Loy. Sublime casting, and the first three films in the series are near-perfect.

Did you spend any time living in the UK? Just wondering if the saying 'write what you know' holds true here considering more than one of your characters has lived there for work or school in their early 20s. Based on the number of cats, books/bookstores, and alcoholic beverages in your books, I'm not even going to ask if you like or 'know' those three things. :) PS - you are my favorite author!
