Goodreads asked Nicole French:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Nicole French Write. Every day. In the beginning days of a book, I will often switch between writing as the characters' voices speak to me, loudly and clearly, and outlining tentative chapters as the rest of the plot starts to make itself known as well. The outline is key, as it gives me something to return to on the days where I am "blocked." Those are the days where I make transition scenes happen and write the parts that are important to moving the plot along, but maybe not so exciting to put down on paper.
