Nancy Wright
Nancy Wright asked:

I didn't understand the ending. In the conversation Gamache and his wife were having as they drove away from Three Pines what is the significance of Billy Williams telling Reine-Marie that is was good to see Gamache again and the slice of lemon meringue pie he sent to Gamache?

Phrynne Page 266. The fisherman Gamache describes as God was eating lemon meringue pie. He also wrote four lines on the wall which Gamache copied and kept. Presumably they are the four lines he quotes at the end of the book.
No idea of course what it all means:)
