I can't say that I get "inspired" to write. One of the things I learned to do a long time ago was to make writing a priority. That means every day I sit down to write. If I want to start a new writing project, I simply sit down at my desk and start writing (longhand).
When it comes to a work-in-progress, I schedule time each day to work on it. I start by rereading a little of what I wrote the day before, then I continue writing. Since I'm working on it daily, the plot and characters are always fresh in my mind.
