I'd have to say Sherlock Holmes and Watson, the latter a perfect foil for his driven, frenetically brilliant friend. As Sherlock himself said, once his methods are explained, they seem hardly astonishing. If Holmes had no Watson, forcing him to explain his own methods, readers would be less awed. We get to be Watson, observe through his eyes, and be appropriately astonished.

I am very interested in your Zack Tolliver series, looks extremely interesting! But the first book "The Other" is not on Kindle Unlimited at Amazon, whereas the rest of the series is there. Why not? I'm financially challenged currently (blame Covid et al); can I start the series with #2 and skip The Other without losing many details/background? Thanks, and write one!
