Only one favourite? That's tough. Two immediately spring to mind, which are classics.
1. Cathy and Heathcliff from Wuthering Heights - Emily Brontë
2. Jane and Mr.Rochester from Jane Eyre - Charlotte Brontë.
Yup. I cheated, it's not easy following rules. ;o) Oh, okay, let's go for it, one more.
3. Tristan and Iseult - which predates the romance of Lancelot and Guinevere in the Matter of Britain.
I must have emotional storms in a romance. All of these deliver dramatic and somewhat dark stories, it's why I love them. If you're a 'feel' sort of person, like me, then these fictional couples will give you a roller-coaster ride for sure. The deep, tragic, agonising love, which is soulful, and haunting, pulls the heart, and mind, in many directions.
