A Goodreads user asked Michael J. Sullivan:

How long is the way between writer's mind and hand? Best regards: A. Tomov – junior

Michael J. Sullivan Hey Alexandar,
It really depends. Some books I've written in as little as a month, and others have taken six to nine months to write. Of course that is just the initial draft, and then there is editing...which again depends on several factors. In general I go through a book 3 - 4 times after it is written, usually incorporating feedback from various people (my wife, my editor, beta readers, writer friends). Each pass through can take a week or two. Thanks for asking.
