Absolutely! This book totally stands on its own as a read. I think it's fun if you know Macbeth, because you'll get to make note of how Talley adapted the story as you read, but it's definitely not necessary. My sister hasn't read Macbeth, just knows the basic premise, and she's totally into this book.
