Goodreads asked Debra Daugherty:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Debra Daugherty My favorite fictional couple is Fitzwilliam Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austin's novel, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE. The attraction between them is obvious from the start, despite both of them being in denial of this fact. Before they can admit, even to themselves, that they have feelings for each other; they have obstacles to overcome, such as Mr. Darcy's stubborn pride because of his family and station in life, and Lizzy's mistaking Mr. Darcy's aloofness as snobbery and believing what others falsely tell her about his character without learning all the facts. I love the way these two characters evolve and slowly come to an understanding that in spite of their misconceived flaws, they love each other.
Jane Austin is one of my favorite authors. In my work-in-progress YA series I even named one of my protagonists Darcy Fitzwilliam, Jane's character's name in reverse.
