My problem with starting a series like your Naamah Trilogy is that the characters that I love so much from the earlier trilogies are already 'dead' in the new trilogy. I like to believe they live forever. Have you ever struggled with that, especially while writing?

Not exactly, because a new beginning is exciting, but I did deliberately leave enough time between the second and third trilogies so that characters we love have passed gracefully into legend, rather than being displaced by new ones.

A number of your l plot elements in the Kushiel universe have a basis on deeply esoteric religious elements from a number of cultures. You bring these richly to life and use them to build fascinating alternate-history scenarios while still being respectful and reverent to the cultures they come from. I'm curious if you can share anything about your process of research and inspiration for this side of your writing?
