Hi, Lisa. I have enjoyed your books for years. I am working on my debut novel a historical mystery. I am confused on this outline vs. "pantser". I'm not sure whether to just start writing or try to outline. Do you favor one over another? Also, where do you possibly find the time to be so prolific? Do you write for a certain amount of time or a specific number of words per day? Thanks so much!
Lisa Jackson
Every author (including your and me) have a creative process or regimen that works for her. I do work from a synopsis of the plot that includes the characters, back story and subplot. These part of the story will evolve as I write the book but the synopsis is a solid piece that keeps me on track as it includes the beginning, middle and end of the story. I find it easier to follow the synopsis than to completely fly by the seat of my pants. The synopsis and knowing where the story is going grounds me. But that’s just me. Other writers find keeping to an outline stifling, so it’s up to you. What works for you? I do not write specific amount of words per day, I just keep writing the story and let inspiration take me along. I am prolific because I had to be as a single mother. I’ve been blessed, for the most part, with a vivid imagination which helps a lot. But the wolf at the door? Great motivation! Good luck!

Hi Lisa! I don't have any questions for you, but just wanted to tell you that you are one of my favourite writers (not many writers have managed to grab me like you have). You are right at the top top of my list along with Chris Carter, Cody McFadyen, Chelsea Cain, Lisa Garnder, Tess Gerritsen and Karen Slaughter. Thank you for keeping me spellbound xx You cannot write them fast enough.... :-) ?
