Well, I tend to read more adventure, mystery, or thriller books, so my selection is limited. I CAN say that one of the more fascinating couples for me was in Anne Rice's highly underrated book, "The Mummy." The relationship between the ancient Ramses and the modern Julie was interesting on many levels.
Similarly, I really liked the bizarre relationship between Akasha and Lestat in "Queen of the Damned." She was powerful, beautiful, and insane. He was incorrigible and entertaining. A doomed relationship but interesting all the same!
