Goodreads asked Darrell B. Nelson:

Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Darrell B. Nelson I am obviously biased in this, but my favorite fictional couple is from my book MIND THIEF, Howie and Vivian.

As far as fictional couples from other people, Wednesday Addams and Joel Glikner in ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES for the same reason.

With both couples the relationship could be summed up in a quick conversation.
ADDAMS FAMILY VALUES:
Joel: I'll never forget you.
Wednesday: You won't?
Joel: You're too weird.

MIND THIEF:
“Well, with you... I've never... before we met... you make me... Fuck you, jerk!” she pushed him away.
He grinned, slipped his arm around her waist, and looked her in the eyes. “Yeah, I feel the same way.”

The thing both these couples have in common is not that they are that different from each other, but they are different from everyone. They bond by reaching out and trying to understand each other.

Couples that are open and express themselves to each other are healthy, warm, and boring. Get two people who want each other, but have a distrust of anyone getting close to them and then you have them taking emotional risks and growing in a way that a guy seeking, "the one" and a girl looking for, "Mr. Right" never could.

Also in a good fictional relationship, you have to expect a high body count. See Romeo and Juliet.
