Gil was never found so I think they guessed at the date of his death and maybe we will hear more about him in a second book? I loved this book because I like back stories in books and I think the ending felt authentic. We all want an amazing ending, but I was drawn to the story right up until the last page and THAT makes a great book. So in the end, it was a messed up guy obsessed with a girl...very plausible.
