My suggestion would be to check out the Apocalypse World game engine and its various descendants. (Monster Hearts would be a great place to look as it's urban fantasy oriented.)
Many people have used the rules for that game to create their own. It's super easy stuff, narrative rather than complex, and it makes for a lot of fun. Plus it's a good rules set for putting the high-power-concept character types on a fairly decent level with the "ordinary hero" sorts. Everyone has a chance to be awesome.

Looking forward to it and the audio book for Poor Mans 3. 1-2 are amongst my favorite all time books. Good intentions series as well. You're my new favorite author! Ran into your work on amazon and got them all. In the words of Jonny 5: Need more input! Will book 3 gets an audiobook and GI keeps continuing?

I've finished Last Man Out recently and felt like we've finished his story, but I realise there's still space for more story within the universe. So are you going to stop here, continue adventures within the universe with another character, or give Tanner a few more adventures? It's the not knowing that kills, so keep us posted plz. Thanks.
