JOSH The book Abomination written by Robert Swindells, this book is one of my all time favourite books to read, the plot of this fascinating book is about a lonely girl called Martha who lives a life controlled by the Righteous, a religious group. The Righteous are very different from the rest of society. She lived a very troubled and melancholy life, until she found a friend called Scot someone who stood up for her when she got bullied but later on in the book Scot gets bullied as well for helping Martha whenever the children at her school give her a hard time. At first she didn't mind being bullied or cared about it however, because of scott she became more protective to herself and she cared about bullying even more. You might be wondering why Martha got bullied it was because of what she wore and her introverted personality. Martha struggled to fit with the kids at her school because if her different uniform that was knitted by her mother. This really put Martha at a low stage of her life, Scot inspired Martha inspired Scot to make him realise what he had, Martha didn’t have much.
Martha wasn’t an only child she had a sister called Mary who was kicked out of the house because her parents said she was ignorant and couldn’t cope with the highly religious life. Martha’s parents have one most important rule for Martha and it is to never invite anyone home or the shameful secret of Abomination would be revealed. Martha’s parents would do almost anything to keep the severest of Abomination safe from the outside world. The book ends with Martha leaving with her sister and leaving a free life while her parents are scared that people would find out what Abomination is, which Martha’s sister and Scott later on find out.
I would advise you to read this book because in my opinion I believe it’s for all ages over nine, the book doesn't have difficult vocab and a hard plot to understand it has a simple but effective plot. I was hooked already from reading the first page I was desperate to know what Abomination was but I won’t spoil it, I would advise you to read the book because really it’s a nice feeling when you read and book over 200 pages and figure out what the title means the book is a short but effective read. Even the front cover without the title on it still hooks you and makes you really want to know what the meaning behind it is. I would rate this book a ten out of ten, it is one hundred percent my favourite book I’ve ever read. I really hope after reading this review it will convince you to pick up the book and start reading it, I guarantee you will get the same feeling I got after I read the book, who wouldn’t want to know what Abomination means and why the author Robert Swindells used that pecific title.
