Levi
Levi asked Gail Carson Levine:

You're not much of a publishing expert, as you said before in another answer, but I can't find much on the author's control in normal publishing. I've looked everywhere, and I can't find anything. I was wondering if you could pick the cover art, and interior? Thanks!

Gail Carson Levine Covers are under the publisher's purview. However, the people at HarperCollins always ask my opinion and have taken it seriously. The one time I hated a cover--the original WRITING MAGIC--they commissioned a new one, which I loved. I've never gotten involved with page design or font, so I don't know what the response would be. In an illustrated book, the illustrator is the co-creator, and I generally stay out of the way.
