I love your books and have read quite a few of them. Where do you draw your inspiration from, and how do you get ideas for your book material?

Thanks, Michelle! I love to listen to people, and I have a face that invites deep, dark secrets. I call it my "Tell me everything" face. So a lot of times, stories come from a snippet of a conversation, or a friend telling me about her old boyfriend and how he dumped her, or the like. To be a writer requires a genuine fascination with other people, and I definitely have that.

Hi Kristan! I am loving your Blue Heron series, as I have relatives from the Hammondsport area. My parents grew up in Bath just down the road and my mother's maiden name is Higgins. Now to my question, how do you pick the settings for your books? Are they places you have visited?
