Hi Kristan! First of all, I love your books: ever since My one and only came out in Italy, I made sure I got each and every one of them; I'm lucky enough that I can as easily read in English as I do in Italian, so getting your new books on my Kindle as soon as they are out isn't a problem. Back to the question: I was wondering, how do you come out with the beautiful landscapes and the settings of your books?

Hi, Elisabetta! Thank you for the lovely compliments! I'm lucky to live in the northeastern part of the US, which is full of beautiful places. I love reading books set in a place I'd like to live myself, so it's a nice excuse to take a long weekend and visit other areas. I'm pretty good at soaking up the local vibe; one of the things I do to get a feel for a place is simply go out to a townie bar with my husband and just hang out, chat with the locals, eavesdrop... that kind of thing.
