I was introduced to your lovely work through the Blue Heron series. I'm SUPER excited for your newest novel. Where do you find your inspiration to make such diverse, individual characters for your many series? Also, do you go into your books thinking you'll do a series or do you figure it out some where along the way?

Kristan Higgins Thanks, Denise! So glad you liked that series! You readers are the reason I wrote a series...you seemed greatly attached to the places and families I wrote, so who was I to say no? : ) The Blue Heron series was supposed to be three books; the O'Rourke twins made it into five. The truth is, I never know what I'll write next. In writing the Blue Heron books, it was nice to know at least that I'd be back in the same town. ON SECOND THOUGHT is what I think of as a connected book to IF YOU ONLY KNEW; it's not quite a series, but it's set in the same town, and you'll get a little glimpse of Jenny, Leo and even Rachel in the book. But no, I don't do a lot of planning. For example, I have no idea what book will come after the one I'm currently writing. None. Feel free to toss out ideas. ; )
