Sally
Sally asked W. Bruce Cameron:

Mr. Cameron, I have a lot of respect for you and have loved your books. Do you have a comment on the allegations of animal abuse on the set of A Dog's Purpose? My research has indicated that the producers of this movie questioned the animal handlers as to the dog's safety widely reported in social media today. My research indicates that the producers expressed concern for the dog, but were dismissed by the handlers

W. Bruce Cameron That's not precisely what I understand to have taken place, Sally. The film was edited to make it appear the dog was thrown in the water, when in fact he was lowered onto a platform just under the water and didn't want to stay there. While it appeared from the camera angle that the waters were rushing, the water on the side of the pool was relatively calm. The dog's head did go under the water, briefly, but there were a number of people there to make sure nothing else happened. I am glad a thorough investigation was conducted and thank you for your concern.
