Goodreads asked Edita A. Petrick:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Edita A. Petrick Write daily if at all possible - whether you feel like it or not; write about what you see around you if you feel you're "blocked" or can't find that perfect start for your story - just write and don't re-read what you've written until it has a chance to simmer a bit - like couple of days - and then go back and re-read it. If you still like it, keep it. It'll fit somewhere, at some point down the writing road. But write every day to develop that discipline that will let you finish a novel and not let it fall by the wayside when you get stuck.
