Definitely. For humans, I've had characters that are racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse. Characters have been African American, Native American, Asian, Latino, Hispanic, Scottish and from all sorts of backgrounds and cultures. (I know these aren't all races, but cultural diversity is important, too).
The Dark Protector vampires are a race. They're their own species, if that makes sense. (Jason Momoa is the perfect Dark Protector in my mind).
