Colleen Hoover I think what helps me the most is to ignore trends and avoid what is popular. I write the story I want to write and if it resonates with readers, that's a good thing. I think a lot of readers can tell when an author is following a trend, just trying to make a quick buck, so make sure your story is coming from the heart.
