I saw, on the on-line edition of newspaper in central Maine, a small article about a legendary man called "The North Pond Hermit." The article fascinated me, and also left me with dozens of unanswered questions, and I felt a strong urge to contact this man. So I wrote a letter to Mr. Knight, and he answered. And thus began a project that took up the next three years, culminating with the book, "The Stranger in the Woods."
