asked:
Does anyone else find this book monotonous? I am trying to make myself finish it, but it's difficult. It's so obvious this marriage is over, I just keep thinking, get on with it. But it keeps dragging on and on and on....Am I the only one who feels that way?

Couldn't agree more with your "get on with it" comment. On another note, I'm a writer so maybe this didn't bother anyone else, but man, this book is riddled with typos. Actually, worse than that, I've come across at least 10 sentences that have words missing. Still, I'm committed.

OMG , no. As I said in my review, they could have cut out the entire first half of the book. It just went on and on. I wanted to scream at him to "grow a set"! lol I did enjoy the ending, but had to force myself to get to that point.
Joanne
I felt the same way. I'm struggling to finish it; besides the large print book is so heavy. He's such a wimp and she's such a diva. First of Sparks' books I didn't like.
Sky Greene
I felt the same way. I resorted to just skimming page after page. It was all repeats of Russ and London's daily schedule and what they do. 200 pages could have easily been cut out of this book.
Doreen Tavares
I totally agree! I'm not even 1/2 way thru but I'm not going to waste anymore time. What a disappointment!! Boring! Boring! Boring!
Dee
Couldn't wait to be over with it.

Thank you for this question, because I thought surely I was the only one having difficulty reading this book. I'm stuck on about 11% and I cannot find the will to finish this book, and I usually really like his books. Just NOT this one!
Vendula
I agree, this book is very slow, monotonous is the right word. I could not wait to finish it, hoping for some spark at some point. I picked it up because of the author, I have enjoyed Nicholas Sparks' books, but this one is a disappointment.
Denise Barzare
I agree! I'm only about a fourth way through this book and I don't know if I will make it through the entire book. I'm so glad it is not just me. I have read every book by Nicholas Sparks but this one is hard to get into and so hard to finish.
Reem
I totally agree! by page 200 I was to invested not to finish it.
Tasneem Ali
Agree.. and I thought it's me who is finding this book draggy. The treatment to the father - daughter relationship has gone for a toss because, Russell being such a fantastic father, the daughter - London, doesn't feel his existence when she is alone with her mother. Struggling to finish this book.

I thought that too, ended up loving the book though. I agree, he could have shortened the first half of the book, but the last third was so good, it was worth it to me.
Ritchiealm Ritchie
I'm finding it boring, not his usual good book. I'm not sure I will get through it.
Dyvie Ravoajanahary
I couldn't agree more. I've had a copy of this book one month before I actually decided to start reading it. Then, I've been reading this for over a month now, only because it's Nicholas Sparks'. But, I have to admit that many people, including me, can identify themselves in the way Russ behaves towards his wife, although his is a little on the extremes.
Betty
Not at all. My feelings exactly. Has he lost his 'spark' or did someone else ghost write this. Boring. Only got about 1/3 way thru. Life is too short to read bad books. What a disappointment. Most of his books - while not exactly literature - are a decent read when one wants a book that won't stress the brain.
Jana
I usually give a book at least 100 pages but this one I'm quitting at page 26.
Sorry 😐

Felt the exact same way! Finally finished it but it took me way longer than it should have. This is by far my least favorite of his books. I think maybe it's time I let this author go. He is just too predictable.
Shauna
It dragged on and on for me also! I kept reading because I thought something has to happen (other than the marriage being over).
Kathy
I also agree... I struggled to finish it to see if there was 'something more' coming than "he said" then "she said" about a bad marriage and custody battle. Very disappointing!
Paul Strebe
Yup, not a great work of literature, but fine for young women who like "child porn" i.e. books talking about cute kid stuff.
Holly
No it wasn't just you. I felt the same way....I actually just finished it.
Dona
No your not! This book would be a good door stopper...Very surprised about this book compared to Nicholas Sparks other books. The story dragged on and on. I finished it and was very disappointed. All I could think about is how Nicholas Sparks wasted his time in writing this book. But I'm sure a lot of people purchased this book because he is a fantastic author!
Regina
yes toward the middle I thought it drug somewhat
Joy
I was right there with you....It was mundane and I said it out loud and turned the page and the action began.
Marina
Yes - I got bored. Stopped reading about halfway through.
Kathy
Definitely, thank you, i thought it was me!!! is it worth finishing?
Chloe C
I am struggling to get through this book. Its like come on already! Do I stop?
Patricia Laurendeau
I'm almost through with this book and I absolutely agree ; it does drag. I also find it quite a depressing read.
Laura VanCuren
I totally felt this way. I said they could have wrapped it up in 20 less pages.
Jordan
Yes! The editor should have cut a few scenes from this book. I never really enjoy seeing a marriage fail, but eventually I thought, "I get it. They're over. Let's see what happens next."
Sue
Agree, I felt the same way & couldn't finish the book
Teresa Goethe
I listened to the audio version and felt the same way. Some of the text was tedious too. I rolled my eyes every time someone poured a glass of wine! Does everyone need a glass of wine to unwind?
