Emily
Emily asked Janet Lee Carey:

I'm absolutely in love with your stories. I can always seem to find ways to relate to your characters without intending to. With that being said, could I ask what inspires you the most? Do you have a certain method you use to sit down and craft your ideas?

Janet Lee Carey Hi Emmie
I'm glad to hear you love the stories and it's especially good to hear you relate to the characters. Human ingenuity, passion, and compassion inspire me the most. I seek story to answer some of my deeper questions. In the book IN THE TIME OF DRAGON MOON, for example, I wanted to answer: "What does a healer do when she's asked to heal her enemy?" Uma's lifelong dream of becoming a respected healer comes true, but in the wrong place and with the wrong people. The story comes alive when I put my characters into impossible situations that test their self-image, their loyalties, and their morals. Hope this helps answer your question, Emmie. Happy reading.
