Kim Severn
Kim Severn asked Jacqueline Winspear:

What attracts you most about writing stories with a strong female lead, during World War I and II in England?

Jacqueline Winspear Because during that era, women in Britain - known for being matriarchal society - were incredibly strong indeed. They were the first generation to go to war, to war work, and to other work to release men for the battlefield in great numbers. In the USA, though there were women working in WW1, it wasn't until the "Rosie The Riveter" generation that women were mobilized in huge numbers. It happened in WW1 in Britain - and it changed women's lives beyond measure. Their experiences and the effect on society interests me very much.
