I would say it is closer to a memoir. A memoir could be told to another person who then writes the story. Most celebrity memoirs are not written by the celebrity, but rather are told to someone else and written by a ghost writer.

It is a non fiction Biography. It isn't a memoir, because the subject didn't write it and it isn't based on a single event or specific time of the subjects life. It also isn't an autobiography for the reason of the subject didn't write it. But it isn't fiction by any means.

It bills itself as a memoir, but it was written by the daughter after her mother's death, so to me it isn't quite a memoir. Historical fiction based on an actual person?
