Kiwi_^^ Firestar's father was actually a kitty pet called Jake who met Talltail (currently Tallstar now) on his "adventure". Talltail (Tallstar) actually did invite Jake to join him in his clan but Jake thinks Kittypet life is more suited for him. So, with no other choice, the two best friends was separated. Years later, when Tallstar saw Fireheart, he immediately knew who his father was due to his similarity in looks. This also explains the kind gestures Tallstar has been to Firestar.
Hence, the father of Firestar is a Kittypet called Jake who is currently unknown to us readers.
Tigerstar found out about the dogs through the leader of Bloodclan, Scourge, who is also (so called) the leader of the twoleg place. Personally, I'm guessing he led the dogs to the cave using preys that he caught like Rabbits as it seems to be the biggest among all the preys cats eats. He than kept the dog hidden in the cave and fed them with a rabbit everyday. Until the time was ready, he kept himself hidden but at the same time, fed the dogs in the least amount of prey to make them hungry so that they will hunt Thunderclan in a more ferocious way. When the day comes, he than caught lots of rabbits to lead a trail from the cave to Thunderclan when the dogs was ASLEEP. Than, find an unexpected Thunderclan cat to end off the trail of "preys" for the dogs.
So to end it off, Tigerclaw had hid himself from the dogs but also at the same time, used the dogs.

I hope it isn't too much but I hope this informations will be useful. :)
Tau Firestar's father was a kittypet called Jake - who, as a fun fact, was best friends with Tallstar (or even something more according to the authors).

Tigerstar contained the dogs with food - he left freshkill in front of the cave they settled into to ensure they were staying there but careful to not let him see him as they would chase after him if that were the case
