How do you get inspired to write?

Kurt James Even though my novels are fiction, most of the time I get inspiration from actual events in history. I am an avid western history buff and if I found something I am interested in, I will be like a dog with a bone and read everything associated with it. Once that is done, I will build a fictional story based somewhat on those true events. In the end the original story that inspired it has been replaced with my version.
