Love your books because I love reading and writing. (I've been a professional writer for 40 years, specializing in writing admissions and fundraising materials for colleges and schools. I live in Brunswick, Maine and write stuff for newspapers as well as alumni magazines. Also, I worked in admissions at Bowdoin under Dick Moll (you may know him) and had a chance to meet your mom. Ever get to Maine?

Thank you, David! So nice to get this message. As for Maine, I love the state. I first started visiting when I was a camper -- at Camp Kieve in Nobleboro. I then went back as a counselor and have stayed friends with the family that runs the camp -- wonderful people. And then I published Linda Greenlaw so began visiting her on Isle au Haut. But I really go any chance I can get. There's no place like it. Alas, I don't yet have Maine schedule for this book tour -- but maybe in the spring or summer I will make it up there. And as for Dick Moll -- he was one of my mother's favorite people. And a great friend of the whole family. Please give him my fondest regards when you next talk with him. Thanks so much for getting in touch! Hope the New Year brings lots of great things -- and great books to read.

Will Schwalbe:
Carey got a first in English Literature, and I have inherited all her books. She told me to read 'Staring into the Sun', Irvin Yalom. We both read Didion's 'Year of Magical Thinking'. And I find myself drawn to 'sad' books- 'When breath becomes air', by Paul Kalanithi was powerful reading, likewise 'Mend the Living' by Maylis de Kerangal? Thanks for your reply and good wishes. Eileen
