How do you deal with writer’s block?

Lurlene McDaniel Knowing my characters well. The best thing is when a character "takes over" and begins to control some of their actions. In RED HEART TATTOO, Lisa took control (so to speak) and sent herself into an UN-planned direction that made the story stronger. But forethought helps me to keep writing. I also never start a book without knowing how it will end.
