A Goodreads user asked this question about Season of Storms:
I LOVE Susanna Kearsley's books and have read them all! Anyone have any recommendations for books that are similiar? I occasionally stumble upon one but she really seems to have a unique, special style. (Also, I've already read all the Outlander books, so don't recommend those please!) Thanks!

I remember really enjoying the Mary Stewart suspense novels, too, though there is a bit more romance, perhaps, than in Susanna Kearsley's novels. I would also mention Phyllis A. Whitney's suspense novels, which are on the order of Mary Stewart's. Both authors are worth reading. Another author you may like would be Diane Setterfield, whose stories are quite good and, in my opinion, engrossing. You may also enjoy reading some of Daphne du Maurier's novels, if you haven't read any yet. You might enjoy the books written by three authors - Lauren Willig, Beatriz Williams and Karen White - The Forgotten Room and The Glass Ocean (there is a third title soon to be published, too). The first two were really good. If you like Jane Austen, you might also enjoy Stephanie Barron's Jane Austen mystery series.(less)
