Mr. Coelho took liberties with Mata Hari's story, elaborating and re-arranging her history to fit into his vision of her tale. It's a great read; he offers references to learn more if the reader is curious :)

Its a historical fiction, to be precise. Even though most of the history handed down to us is also prejudicial but the authors do not say so; Paulo admits it to be a real life story of Mata Hari garnished with his magical way of writing
