How do you manage to bring such apparent authenticity to your novels? Is it research, personal family history, all of that, or are you perhaps an immortal that has lived for a couple of centuries and just writes about it :-D ??

First, nice idea about immortality, but that's not me. No vampires in my household. I have been interested in the period I write about since I was a small child and aware of my grandfather's wounds sustained in the Battle of the Somme in 1916. That childhood curiosity led to a more adult inquiry, so my "research" has been an interest throughout my life. My grandfather was typical of his generation though - they didn't readily tell their stories, because everyone had a story, and they were too terrible to remember, let alone recount.
