Hi Jennifer Donnelly, my name is Catherine, first can I just say I absolutely love Waterfire Saga it is my favorite series. I was recently watching Bea Miller-Open Your Eyes (Deep Blue Songspell), it's awesome (I love her voice as both a singer and as an audiobook reader), and I was reading the comments and saw that a lot of people are hoping that your series becomes a film. Is that something you'd consider doing?

Hi Catherine. I love Bea Miller, too -- I spent a day with her when we launched Deep Blue; she was awesome and super-talented! I would love for The Waterfire Saga to be made into a film (or a film series) -- but that's not up to me. Let's both cross our fingers that it gets made sometime soon!

So I was wondering. It gets dark pretty as you go deeper under the ocean so how do the mer see? You talk about them having the lava globes but that isn't really practical for traveling over distance or even just staying outside all day. Do they just have to carry a light around with them at all times or do they build really close to the surface? If that is the case how have they prevented being discovered by humans?

I just finished These Shallow Graves and I LOVED IT to BITS! Is there by any chance that you're considering a sequel? Or another book that features Jo, Eddie, and etc. as background characters, while another set of characters is introduced? Just wondering, because I really enjoyed the setting, story tone, and characters. ^_^
