Thank you for your service. I had the good fortune to work with Col. Pete Peterson from Florida. He went on to serve as a member of Congress & as an ambassador to Vietnam. He had been a P.O.W. for I believe seven years & was one of the kindest, gentlest men I have known. Do you think that returning to Vietnam has helped you heal? I am a psychologist & am curious to know about paths to healing.

R. Bruce Logan Laura. So sorry for my tardiness in answering this question. I've only now seen it. Returning to Vietnam was unquestionably beneficial to me, spiritually, psychologically and emotionally. I like to tell people Vietnam changed my life — twice. The second time around it allowed me to replace the negative imagery I had been carrying around for years with the fact that Vietnam is a country, not a war.
