Yep, insects are animals. I just wanted to drop you a comment though because some of the responses you got aren't accurate.
One person said that if you're not a rock or plant, you're an animal. This isn't true at all - most life on Earth is neither plant nor animal.

Insects belong to a larger grouping called the Arthropods and are related to sea creatures like crabs and lobsters.

There's no good scientific definition of Animal, but insects definitely are. A good general rule is if it's alive and is able to move in response to its environment at any point in its lifecycle, it's an animal. I'm sure there are plenty of exceptions.

Animals, Vegetables, Minerals. What we were taught back in the day. Broadest of classifications, then there are more and more specific inner classifications. If you're not a rock or a plant, you must be some sort of animal. All horses are animals, but not all animals are horses, is another one. Okay, I'm done.
