This question has two parts. What inspired me to write, and what inspired me to write in English.
The first part is easy: I've always loved literature and I've always written.
The second part is trickier. I initially began writing in Spanish. What motivated me to write in English was Nabokov's Lolita. Someone once said that in Lolita the story is secondary to the use of the language. I agree. I enjoyed the discovery of language that writing in English produced.
