Milo
Milo asked Roshani Chokshi:

What was your inspiration?

Roshani Chokshi Hm. Inspiration for THE STAR-TOUCHED QUEEN? Inspiration for writing in general? Former inspirations? I think the things that make me write are a bit like Cheshire Cats popping in and out of my existence. Inspiration in general is usually something I can't anticipate. Sometimes it's a sentence that seemed to jut out of a book, like some cliff that my whole imagination seemed to dangle off of wildly. Sometimes it's falling asleep in the car with the sun roof open and watching rain fall on the glass. Sometimes it's sheer fury about the realities I see (like my family's stories not represented enough on the page), and sometimes it's sheer happiness about the things I am grateful for in my life (like remembering every story my grandmother told me when I was little). Sometimes it's something that only announces itself after years and years of building. I take inspiration where I can, and devour it in one piece like I'm starving. Not because I think it's something fleeting that will never return but because I think the best inspiration is the kind that makes you feel urgent. Like you're racing against yourself to get a story on the page while you still remember what that magic feels like.
