I read this to my three kids who are 10, 8 & 5 and they all enjoyed it. My 5 year old got upset a couple of times through the book but I don't believe that the themes aren't suitable for kids, its just discussing things that happen in life & I'm so glad that I read it to my kids, its a beautiful story.

I've only just started reading it, but so far I'm sensing darker themes (eating disorders, unhealthy relationships) but so far everything is kind of vague. I didn't really answer your question haha but hopefully something to think about.
